"Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you." ~ II Corn. 13:11
Christ Church Beliefs
At Christ Church we believe that God wants to know us in a personal way and be known by us personally. How can we know that?
He has given us the Bible to read, the ability to talk to Him through prayer and the fellowship of other Christians.
Christ Church is an evangelical Bible believing Protestant Church. We hold the doctrines of orthodox, Biblical faith including: the Trinity, the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ, original sin, the necessity of Christ's atonement for sin, the Church as a divinely ordained institution, the inspiration of the Bible, the requirement that Christians live moral lives and resurrection of the body.
Divinely inspired and infallible, Holy Scripture provides the standard for all man's thoughts, words and deeds.
"Your words I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." ~ Psalm 119:11
Principles
We seek to develop four guiding principles:
- BIBLICAL. We believe in the eternal, unchanging, and inerrant standard of God’s Word. The truth of God’s Word is our guide for every area in our lives. God speaks to us in His Word clearly and authoritatively and we desire to be ready to listen and obey.
- REFORMATIONAL. We believe that the doctrines which were born out of the Reformation are biblical and applicable to our lives for all times. We proclaim unashamedly salvation by grace in Christ through faith according to scripture.
- RELATIONAL. Because we are connected to Christ, God calls His people to walk in fellowship with one another and not to live isolated lives. Christ’s covenant with us is the springboard of our being in relationship with one another. Our goal is the first commandment as well as the second commandment which Christ gave to His people (Matthew 22:36-40). No Christian is to be an island unto himself, but is commanded to gather with God’s people for worship, fellowship, and community.
- MISSIONAL. We have been redeemed not for our own ends, but for His glory. In other words, that work of grace that He has done in our lives is to be shared and communicated to those we come in contact with through our families, our friends, our workplaces and in our communities.
The Lord's Supper
At Christ Church we celebrate the Lord's Supper every week. We believe the Bible teaches that the Lord's Supper is an essential part of worship. If you have received Christian baptism and are under no sanctions in your home church, we welcome you to rejoice with us around the Lord's Table.
As the whole people of God under the Old Covenant partook of the covenantal feasts and bread from heaven (manna) in the wilderness, so the whole people of the Israel of God under the New Covenant should partake of the covenantal feast of the Lord's Supper. (Exodus 12:43-48, Matthew 26:26-27). Therefore, if your children have received the sign and seal of the New Covenant (baptism), then they too should share in the New Covenant meal.
